Legendary Heroes can carry up to six special items in a small inventory. The items can
turn the tide of battle as they grant the Hero the ability to cast offensive and defensive
spells, heal units, utilize special abilities or gain bonuses to specific statistics.
Creeps, or hostile neutral units sometimes drop Hero Items when they are killed.
A Hero Item appears as a Treasure Chest when it is on the ground.
Heroes can drop Hero Items onto the ground so that they can pick up another Hero Item
whenever they want. Heroes can also buy new Hero Items at
Neutral Buildings.
Hero Items are divided into three categories:
Charged - have a limited amount of charges and cannot be recharged. When the charges are used up, the item disappears. Players can left-click on Charged Hero Items to activate them.
Consumable - can be used one time, after which they disappear. Players can left-click on Consumable Hero Items to activate them.
Persistent - can be used unlimited times and are continually active.
